FAIR REGISTRATION PRACTICES
APPLICATION FOR CREDENTIAL REVIEW & RECOGNITION OF QUALIFICATION
Any individual that is licenced to practice cosmetology in another province in Canada may apply to the Cosmetology Association for licence recognition and transfer under Section 29 of the Nova Scotia Cosmetology Act, 2012, c. 39 (the “Cosmetology Act”) and its By-Laws [Bylaw 4.3(b)]. NOTE: The Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia has the authority to request from an applicant information to establish that the applicant qualifies for licencing under the Cosmetology Act, and in accordance with the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (July 1, 2017, Part VII - Labour Mobility) and Nova Scotia’s Canadian Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2018, c.23, s. 1

IMPORTANT: A "certificate" is not equal to certification. A certificate or diploma issued by a school, institution or business that is not regulated will not be accepted.
DEFINITION: LICENSED BY A PROVINCIAL REGULATOR OR A REGULATED ASSOCIATION
Individuals that qualify under the above noted legistion will hold a licence or certification from a regulated body.
A regulatory body means: a designated provincial regulator - trade office, apprenticeship agency or association that is responsible for the regulation of a profession that is governed by legislation within Canada. (This includes Red Seal certification and designation.)
The applicant must provide with their application a valid licence or certification issued by a regulatory body, apprenticeship agency, or association.
