The Cosmetology Association is happy to provide a searchable forum, where the public can now search any Cosmetologist or Salon/Spa to ensure they are in safe hands. This search will show that your Cosmetologist or Salon/Spa is registered with the Cosmetology Association and whether or not they hold a valid licence and/or permit to operate. The links below will allow anyone to check that a licence or permit is current and valid at any time.

The Association's search app can be found on Google Play for android users and at Apple for iPhone users, and is available for download on any cell phone.

Description:

At the request of Members and the public and to support professional cosmetologists and reputable salons and spas in Nova Scotia, the public can now rest assured they are in safe hands by searching for registered salons, spas, and cosmetologists (hairstylists, estheticians, nail technicians, eyelash technicians, make-up artists, and full body hair removal specialists). 

In order to maintain and ensure industry compliance and standards for the protection of the general public and cosmetologists, all cosmetologists must be licensed by the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia. All salons and spas must hold a current and active permit with the Association.

This new app will also help the public, distributors, and vendors be sure that cosmetologists are licensed and in compliance with regulations and policies and have been properly trained in universal precautions and the skills of the trade/profession in order to safely provide cosmetology services to the public.

The public and distributors (like Maritime Beauty, Euro Beauty, Eastern Esthetics and others) are encouraged to check to confirm that a cosmetology licence or salon/spa permits are current and up to date, for the purchase of supplies that should only be sold to professionals.

At the Members' and the public's request, this new search app should also help stop those who are not licensed Members in good standing from presenting themselves as cosmetologists.

All cosmetologists are required to display their licence and/or permit at all times (in person, on social media, etc.)
